The Indian stock market ended mixed on 17 September 2026 after a highly volatile session. The Sensex declined 21.86 points to close at 74,314.59, while the Nifty 50 gained 53 points to settle at 23,270.60. Buying in pharma, auto, realty, insurance and selected Tata Group stocks helped the Nifty recover, while weakness in HDFC Bank, ONGC and other large-cap stocks limited gains.
